When I found out I was going to spend a weekend with a really great friend of mine in Rome, I didn't know where to even start planning. I wanted everything to be planned, so that we don't waist any time in Rome. But of course, we didn't really stick to it, which was maybe the magical part of it. But, at least I got to know the infrastructure of this amazing city.
Since it was only a weekend, and it was the first time for both of us in Rome, we decided to stick to the typical tourist spots. First day we planned to visit more, but because we arrived later to the hotel than we anticipated, we had to skip a few. We visited Vatican, the St. Peter Square and Basilica. If you are visiting Rome and you have more time, just spend a whole day here. Wake up early, go to the museums and visit Sistine Chapel. At least that is on my list for next visit! After strolling around and eating the biggest and best ice cream ever (Lemongrass Gelato), we decided to take a long walk on the Tiber and go to Trastevere. It is the perfect place to just get lost and enjoy the tiny cobble stone streets. We arrived to the Santa Maria in Trastevere, which I have to admit has been one of the highlight of my trip. The mass was about to start so we decided to stay. I got a pair of headphones where they translated everything to English, but I couldn't really understand anything since the words were just translated without having any sense. But the music, was simply breathtaking. An older guy sit next to us and he had a magical voice, plus the wonderful interior of this church, it was what I needed after a really long day. Suddanly, I didn't feel tired, and I proposed Aliz to sit down in a wine bar and just drink and relax. The other highlight of my trip. We drank a bottle of super sweet and unique wine, we ate loads of sweets (it was a dessert bar) and we gossiped and laughed a lot. After this, we just wanted to go back to the hotel. But how could we, when we saw that the metro goes right under the colosseum? Even though our plan was to visit it next morning, why not just take a quick look at it at night as well? As soon as we arrived there, the rain started pouring and we had to quickly take some photos and leave.

That is everything that happened to us on our first day in Rome. If you are interested what we did next day, stay tuned! Tomorrow I will tell you everything about it!

Have a great night!
xoxo,
Saci
